Fermacell board may be used in wall and floor solutions to satisfy
the requirements of Part E. A requirement of Part E is that 10% of
all new dwellings should be subject to pre-completion testing on site
to ensure compliant performance for separating (or party) walls and
floors. Testing should be carried out by a test body with appropriate
third party accreditation.
As an alternative
to pre-completion testing, a number of separating (or party) wall and
floor solutions for new build dwellings are approved
as Robust Details (RDs). If built correctly these may be
deemed to satisfy Part E without the need for pre-completion testing.
RD solutions may still be used in applications other than new build dwellings,
but will be subject to pre-completion testing. It may be considered that RD
solutions are more likely to pass pre-completion testing.
