  Part E Solutions   RD Solutions
Fermacell board may be used in wall and floor solutions to satisfy the requirements of Part E. A requirement of Part E is that 10% of all new dwellings should be subject to pre-completion testing on site to ensure compliant performance for separating (or party) walls and floors. Testing should be carried out by a test body with appropriate third party accreditation.   As an alternative to pre-completion testing, a number of separating (or party) wall and floor solutions for new build dwellings are approved as Robust Details (RDs). If built correctly these may be deemed to satisfy Part E without the need for pre-completion testing.

RD solutions may still be used in applications other than new build dwellings, but will be subject to pre-completion testing. It may be considered that RD solutions are more likely to pass pre-completion testing.
For further details please consult the information prepared by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), visit the RD website www.robustdetails.com or call the Xella technical hotline on 0870 09 0306.
